A Duel is a legal manner of retaliation in the Other World.
Description[]
A duel is a challenge people can issue to others when desired.
Rules[]
- Duels can only be done under the supervision of a local Knight Order and must follow the rules of conduct accordingly.
- Both parties can choose whether a duel can be private or public, depending on the reason for the duel.
- Duels are always single combat.
- The challenger and challenged don't have to personally participate in the duel itself, they can nominate proxies. Such as slaves, if they have any available.
- Only free people can take part in duels, although this does not apply to those who act as proxies.
- A duel can only be considered finished if one of the combatants is either dead or admits defeat.
- If the victor does not wish to kill their opponent, it will be considered a draw.
- The winner of the duel has the right to keep the equipment of the defeated opponent.
- Even if the side that wins is free from accepting any additional challenges from the losing side, they must accept it if the previous duel was a draw.
Trivia[]
- The person who refuses a challenge, even if they have a good reason, will be considered a laughingstock and looked down on for cowardice.
- Duels are apparently common the nobility and Freemen.
- It's also common to challenge people to a duel in order to acquire the challenged party's equipment for themselves. (Of course, such methods are hinted to be frowned upon and Michio even suspected that Sabo's Party members might try to seek retribution if he attempted to take Sabo's gear. In fact, they seemed grateful that Michio allowed them to keep the equipment.)
