Encounter (出会, Deai) is the first episode of the Welcome to the Slave Harem in the Labyrinth of the Other World anime series.
Plot[]
Michio Kaga begins playing a cheap online game he believes is virtual reality. The village is attacked by bandits, and he kills several with his sword Durandal. Somara, the village chief, rewards him with the bandits' equipment. When Kaga attempts to log out, he realizes the world around him is genuine and he must complete the game ahead. A villager attempts to steal Kaga's captured loot and is sentenced to slavery. To sell his loot, the thief and collect the bandits' bounty, Kaga travels to the city of Vale.
There, he collects the bounty and visits Alan, a slave trader, who purchases the thief and reveals a new labyrinth has been discovered nearby. As Kaga is intrigued by the labyrinth, Alan suggests purchasing a slave, in particular, a slave named Roxanne. As she is a beast woman, she is useful in combat and is also a guaranteed virgin should he want her as a sex slave. Feeling guilty over considering it, Kaga is nonetheless dazzled by the possibility of a willing sex slave and Alan's smooth sales talk so he impulsively agrees to return in five days with the almost 450,000 nars needed to purchase Roxanne.

Trivia[]
The episode is the adaptation of chapters 1, 2 and 3. However there are a few differences:
- In the anime the loot inspection happens right after the battle, while in the manga it happens after Kaga realizes he’s trapped in another world and has changed into the clothes that Somara gave him.
- Subsequently the enslavement of the bandanna thief in the anime was also moved to later in the evening, while in the manga it happened right after Kaga tells Somara that the thief's bandanna has been switched out with a normal bandanna, creating a more realistic flow for the anime.
- In the anime the visit to Alan’s Mansion and the Knights' Station are switched around, with the visit to the Knights' Station happening first, compared to last in the Manga.
- Because of the switch around with the Mansion and Station, Bikka is seen far less in the anime compared to in the manga. As he leaves after the Mansion in the anime, but stays with Kaga in the manga until after Kaga has bought the Scimitar sword.
- The conversation between Alan and Kaga about slaves was watered down in the Anime, while more info about the mechanics of slaves were given in the manga.
- Overall conversations in Alan’s Mansions were watered down.
