Trivia[]

  • According to Alan, Slave Merchants aren't looked well upon by society, particularly by those righteous (and hypocritical) groups who disapprove of slavery, which they view as an "outdated" and "immoral" system. Of course, it's understandable that Slave Merchants can have a rather dubious or dishonorable reputation, as shown by the Imperial City Slave Merchant who was not only superstitious but also didn't treat his slaves well, as noted by Michio.
  • Also according to Alan, being a Slave Merchant is a rather dangerous business, as disreputable people or disgruntled customers can come to exact revenge against them or to complain. Bandits can even risk the chance to raid them if there's a proper reason for it, as was the case with Alan's Company when he had in his possession a slave who knew of where the Bandit Bandana was and who killed Hugo.
  • Alan explains to Michio that the coalition of Slave Merchants are rather accommodating towards each other, willing to refer potential or even long-time customers to other Slave Merchants if they themselves don't have the slaves the customer is looking for, since there is never a shortage of customers or slaves, so there is never any need for competition or animosity between them. They even have their own information network, their own regions of influence, and trade routes.
