In order to use Magic, one must become a Wizard. In order to become a Wizard, one must have used (attack) magic at least once and also be at least Villager Lv5. The common method is to give special medicine to a child before they turn 5 years of age. At that age, the child will usually survive. Most of the time, only children of nobles and super wealthy families obtain the Wizard job. Michio used Total MP Release/Equivalent Exchange as his attack magic.
In theory, an adult could use an Orb of Self Destruction combined with a Sacrificial Misanga. An alternate theory is that it is possible to attain the Wizard job via completely using up one's MP.

Trivia[]
- Wizards are indispensable for parties aiming to take an active role in labyrinths.
- According to Alan and several others, it is apparently very rare for Wizards to become slaves. This is likely because most of them come from noble or wealthy families and thus don't have to worry about financial problems. Even those who are commoners seem to have no shortage of job opportunities or financial gains and are thus usually exempted from having to sell themselves as slaves unless there are special circumstances involved.
- As a result, the price of a Wizard slave can get VERY pricey, since Wizards are the backbone of any Party who dives in the Labyrinth and is a source of power for any family, master, or party. There seems to be some merit to this since some participants, upon hearing that a Wizard slave was up for sale, were desperately trying to gather more platinum coins, anticipating fierce competition.
- Good fortune be for any Slave Merchant who is able to get their hands on a Wizard slave. They're almost guaranteed to make more from one Wizard slave than several combat slaves combined. Even more so if said Wizard slave is female, which is even rarer to find, and the price can go up even more if they're young and beautiful.
- Alan was at the Quratar Auction in Volume 8 to sell his Wizard slave. He was confidant that he'd get 1,000,000 nars for him, if not more.
